Days 1-3: Almaty (Kazakhstan) Arriving in Almaty, the capital of Kazakhstan, transfer to a hotel. Sightseeing tour: Central State Museum, Almaty's Green Bazaar, Zenkov Russian Orthodox Cathedral. Enjoy spectacular view of Chimbulak mountainous area. Visit Ala Tau Lake. Hiking.
Day 4: Almaty-Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) Sightseeing day drive to Bishkek. Accommodation. Sightseeing tour. Ala-Too Square, Panfilov park, History Museum, Victory Square. Visit colorful Kyrgyz bazaar.
Day 5: Bishkek-Issyk-Kul Drive to the gigantic lake Issyk-Kul, one of the biggest mountain lakes in the world, stop by Cholpon Ata gorge to see Paleolithic era petroglyphs. Arrival in Issyk Kul Lake. Accommodation at the guest house.
Day 6: Tamga – Jety-Oguz. Transfer to the starting point of the trek through Svetlaya Polyana. The trek takes 2 hours and goes through the Conifer forest until you reach nameless pass (2725m). You can experience excellent view of the lake, snow-covered mountain peaks, flower's valley “Kok-Jaik” in the Jety-Oguz gorge. A descent from the pass to the gorge Jety-Oguz (2200m). On the way you may visit waterfall (20m). Overnight in tents.
Day 7: Jety-Oguz Walk up from the camp towards Tilety pass (2 – 3 hours). The path goes along Jety-Oguz river, through the Conifer forests and flower fields. Picnic. Overnight in a tent under the Tilety pass.
Day 8: Jety-Oguz – Tilety pass After breakfast walk up towards the Tilety pass. The path goes along Tilety river. Enjoy the Karakol National Park. Overnight in a tent (2465m).
Day 9: Karakol National Park - Karakol In the morning we take a walk to the Ala-Kul lake. (The altitude is 360 m. The width is 600- 700m, the length is 2,3km.) The path goes through conifer forest in Karakol gorge and then goes up by the moraine to the lake. Return back to the tent. Transfer to Karakol. Enjoy folk music show during the dinner. Overnight in Karakol.
Day 10: Karakol – Bishkek Transfer to Bishkek (400km). Sightseeing tour in Karakol. Visit the wooden Russian-orthodox church, Dungan Mosque and Prezhevalsky-Museum. On the way to stop by at the open-air art gallery of stone, They depict wolves, long-horned ibex, goats, horses, snow leopards, sacrifices and some hunting scenes. Continue driving to Bishkek. Dinner.
Day 11: Bishkek-Tashkent (Uzbekistan) Flight to Tashkent. Arrival. Lunch at the Uzbek traditional restaurant. Free time.
Day 12: Tashkent Visit to the Applied and Decorative Art Museum of Uzbekistan, old Tashkent neighbourhoods, Oriental Bazaar “Chorsu” , circular indoor-outdoor marketplace, crowded with stalls that sell innumerable products including spices, nuts, flowers , fruits, vegetables and handicraft items. Amur Temur and Independence Squares. Earthquake Memorial. Walk down main boulevard and ride by Metro.
Day 13. Tashkent-Samarkand Drive to Samarkand (300 km), the city is more than 2500 years old, Stopping near the "gate" of Amur Temur where two mountain ranges meet. Arrival. Sightseeing tour to Registan Square, the main attraction of Samarkand and an impressive place for holding the world’s finest old and modern music festivals and holidays, Ulugbek’s Observatory, XVth century whose scientific and astronomic discoveries greatly advanced knowledge in these fields. Dinner at Hotel Afrasiyab.
Day 14. Samarkand Breakfast. Visit to Hebrew Prophet Daniel’s Tomb which is next to a pleasant ancient and contains a burial chamber around 18 meters long, the Jewish Quarter, and synagogue, located in the old section of Samarkand. Samarkand bazaar. Continue sightseeing., Shahi Zinda Ensemble – ancient necropolis (IX,XIV,XIX c.), Bibi Khanum Complex ( the complex was build in honor of the wife of Amur Temur in the fourteenth century), Guri Emir Mausoleum (XIV century). Dinner. Folklore shows in Registan Square.
Day 15. Samarkand- Shakhrisabz Breakfast. Take pictures from the highest point of Samarkand. Sightseeing day drive to Shakhrisabz. Enjoy the beauty of Zeraphshon and Hissar Mountains. Sightseeing tour in Shakhrisabz, the birthplace of Great Amut Temur. Ak -Sarai Palace (XIV-XV c.), Kok - Gumbaz Mosque (XVc.), Dorus-Siadat, Djekhangir Mausoleum (XIVc.), Timur’s Vault (XV c.). Lunch in ancient Shahrisabz. Drive back to Samarkand. Visit the local church of the XIXth century in Samarkand. Free time for shopping. Dinner at National house.
Day 16 – Samarkand –Penjikent(Tajikistan)- Samarkand Early morning drive to Penjikent. Cross the border into Tajikistan to discover the ruins of ancient Sogdian city Panjikent . Visit Rudaki Museum and Penjikent bazaar. Accommodation at the guest house.
Day 17: Penjikent- Fann Mountains Drive to the Fann mountains which are popular tourist destination situated in north-west Tajikistan. Start the tour in Marguzor Lake. Overnight in camp.
Day 18: Fann Mountains The donkeys arrive in the morning to carry the luggage. After a gentle section you climb steeply, passing the village of Kiogli, to camp below the Tavasang Pass at about 3000m.
Day 19: Fann Mountains After crossing the Tavasang Pass, 3450m, you descend to the Sarymat river for lunch. A gentle climb through sparse juniper woods leads to a magical meadow and campsite below the icy north face of Gardish.
Day 19: Fann Mountains Walk up to the Munora Pass, 3520m, and descend to the deep, craggy gorge of the Archa-Maidan river. The more energetic can take-in a side trip to visit Lake Pshtykul before dropping down to the campsite.
Day 21: Fann Mountains You go down the Archa-Maidan valley to Zurmech Wood. Along the way you pass several small villages which appear to blend into the rocky mountainsides. At Zurmech you pass through semi-wild apple, cherry and apricot orchards to reach our camp by a crystal clear stream (1900m).
Day 22: Fann Mountains You go in down via Archamaidan and Duoba and Amshut river till the the Zimtut village and overnight in private home stay in village.
Day 23: Fann Mountains Walk up a colorful canyon to the Zurmech Pass, 3200m. Descend to the next campsite by the Chukurak lakes. The gnarled junipers combine with steep cliffs to make this a very scenic spot. The inviting lake waters are icy cold! Camp by the lake.
Day 24: Fann Mountains Fann Mountains Cross the Chukurak Pass to Kulikalon hollow with its numerous streams and lakes. Camp by lake with magnificent panorama of the steep glaciated north face of the Chimtarga, the highest summit of the Fann mountains.
Day 25: Penjikent- Samarkand Walk down the valley to our waiting transport. Drive the down to Penjikent, 5-6 hours. We have lunch in Penjikent. Drive to Samarkand, 1.5-2 hours.
Day 26: Samarkand-Bukhara Sightseeing day drive to Bukhara through Malik chul desert. Stop at 12th century karavanserai and the workshop of potters. Arrival in Bukhara. Afternoon visit to the ancient part of the city. Enjoy green tea in the Chai khana.
Day 27: Bukhara Labi Khaus Complex ("the complex around the pond"), Nadir Divan Begi Khanaka. Visit an ancient Chaykhana. The sightseeing tour continues with trade domes (XVI c) of money changers, hat sellers, silk, carpets, puppets and jewelry, Magoki Attari site which was originally a Zoroastrian temple, Abdulazizkhan Madreseh with its sandali (old version of house heating), Poi-Kalon Ensemble with the greatest minaret of Central Asia. Lunch at the house of Fayzullo Khodjaev with national costume show. Visit the Ark (winter residence of local rulers from the first century) , Bolo Khaus Complex, Ismail Samoniy Mosque. Dinner and Folklore show featuring local dancers, singers and fashion stars.
Day 28 Bukhara Breakfast. Visit Mohi Khosa Palace (summer residence of local rulers with national traditional dress), Chor Minor Complex built in Indian style. Lunch. Chor Bakr and Bakhoutdin Naqshbandi Mausoleum.
Day 29 Bukhara-Mary ( Turkmenistan) Drive to Farab (Turkmenistan). After customs and border formalities continue sightseeing day drive to Mary through the Kara Kum desert. Accommodation in three star hotel.
Day 30 –Mary-Merv Drive to Ancient Merv and explore the ruins of this mythical city. Sightseeing tour: Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum, Unique medieval castles of Turkmenistan.
Day 31. Mary- Ashgabad Sightseeing day drive to Ashgabad. Photo stops at the exotic villages of Turkmenistan. Arrival in Ashgabad. Free time
Day 32. Ashgabat Sightseeing tour in this modern city: Independence Square - surrounded by extravagant palaces and ministry buildings, and the National Museum with its fine collection of historic artifacts and relics. Carpet Museum, rich with the history of Turkmen carpet weaving; and the "Spiritual Temple of Turkmen Nation” and the mosque in Kiptchak. Drive to Nissa and explore the ancient ruined capital of the Parthians. Discover the unique fortresses, citadel, temples and tombs (III Century BC).
Day 33. Ashgabad. Explore the Talkuchka Sunday bazaar, one of the largest open bazaars in the world filled with colourful rugs, jewellery, carpets, silk and national Turkmen costumes. At the World of Turkmen Fairy Tales we’ll take a cable car up into the Kopet Dag mountains for a panoramic view over the city and along the Iranian border. Visit Anau a medieval city situated 12 kilometres from Ashgabat the Bronze Age settlement Anau-Depe (4th - 3rd centuries BC) and the fortress of Anau (3rd century BC - 3rd century AD) and the mosque. The name Anau derives from Abi-Nau, meaning "new water".
Day 34. Ashgabat – Kunya Urgench Flight from Ashgabat to Dashoguz. Arrival. Transfer to Kunya-Urgench, one of the most ancient cities of Central Asia. This city’s almost complete annihilation by Genghis Khan more than 800 years ago, the city was rebuilt and grew into an important trading center. Here we will visit the medieval town, the city Gurganj, the Palace of Turabek Khanym, Mausoleums of Khoresm Shakh II Arslan and Tekesh, Kyrk Molla, Ak Kala, Mausoleum of Nadjammidin Kubra, plus the history museum and the Kutluk Timur Minaret. Stay in the guest house or in the yurta according to the request.
Day 35. Konya Urgench (Turkmenistan) – Khiva (Uzbekistan). Drive to the border crossing point of the city, the border between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Border formalities on both sides. Drive to Khiva, another ancient UNESCO Heritage City. Accommodation at Sabir Arkanchi Hotel (new 3 star hotel right in the ancient part of the city).
Day 36. Khiva Sightseeing tour in Khiva is the fairy-tale city of the Silk Road. Excursion to Ichan Kala (old city) surrounded by high walls of air-dried bricks. Ata – Darvaza (West Gate, XVII – XVIII c.), Kalta Minar (small tower). Lunch at the national restaurant. Continue the sightseeing tour: Medreseh Mohammad Aminkhan (XIX c.), Kunya Ark (old fortress), Pahlavan Mahmud Mausoleum (XVIII – XIX c.), Medreseh Khodja Islam with minaret (tower), Tash Hauli Palace ( with view of the palace's harem-women's quarter), Caravanserai ( traditional inn for travelling merchants), Juma mosque ( XI-XII c.) with 200 wooden pillars. Dinner panoramic view of Khiva in moonlight. Transfer back to the hotel.
Day 37. Khiva-Tashkent Morning visit to the carpet workshop and other handicraft centers. Meet with locl people. Afternoon transfer to the airport. Flight to Tashkent. Accommodation.
Day 38-39. Tashkent Sightseeing morning drive to Chimghan – Charvak – Beldersay” which is located in the territory of Ugham Chatkal State Park (80 km from Tashkent). It is one of the oldest and biggest nature reserves that was founded in 1947 in the spurs of the Western Tien Shan Mountains. Admire beautiful scenery and take pictures. In the stables of "Chimghan Oromghohi" situated not far from Beldersay hotel you can see horses of local breeds, such as kurama and karabair.
Day 40. Chimgan-Tashkent. Drive to Tashkent city. Free time. Farewell Dinner.
Day 41. Tashkent- New York. Departure from Tashkent International airport.
